This site has been created for AET 531 by Learning Team C to facilitate discussion about the management of technology at Nassau Community College's distance learning program.
I tjink I am finally checking in. I hope so. Have I missed out on anything with the assignment? Where do I check to see what our responsibilities are for this week? Thanks!
We need to figure out which organization we need to evaluate their technology for adult education and training. We could use a automobile company such as Ford. Any suggestions? Karen
I am getting more comfortable with the blog. I like what Jacqueline said. Maybe a small college? I also think we are to discuss the the project in the blog. Is that what all of you think too?
I have to figure this blog thing out. However I believe we are leaning towards a community college. Whatever we decide we have to decide quick because time is running out.
I agree. Time is running out and we have our individual assignment to complete for this week. Let's try to decide asap. I will check in later. It is 3:30 p.m. where I live. (CST)
Hi Team. I think we should go with Shantell's suggestion, Nassau Community College. Lets use this Nassau Community College and start to identify it's needs: · What technologies are currently in use?
· How does the organization manage those technologies?
· How does the organization address concerns such as the type and size of bandwidth and the capability of implementing Web 2.0 tools?
. What upgrades or changes are necessary to provide better technology integration for adult learning opportunities?
I suggest that we all look at the first three parts and then compile them together and then look at the changes or upgrades needed. What do all of you think? Karen
Hi Team, This is what I collected from the Nassau website.
Nassau Community College: Technologies they have. Hardware Requirements-computer Software Requirements Windows: internet Explorer 8 or 9, Firefox 3.6 and higher, Google Chrome Mac OS: Safari 4.0 or 5.0, Firefox 3.6 or higher, Google Chrome
Internet Connectivity SLN recommends a broadband Internet connection such as DSL or Cable for best results with online courses. Access to a computer with a dial-up connection is an absolute minimum.
SLN (SUNY learning network) online course browser compatibility (The State University of New York - SUNY) Java is required. Social Media – Facebook (could add Twitter or another social media.) Blackboard Learn 9, Angel 8.0 or 7.4 Telecourses, hybrid courses, online courses,
Upgrades needed: Improved browser requirements for mobile devices. “Additionally, it should be noted that due to current browser requirements and reduced functionality within the Learning Management System, the use of mobile devices such as smartphones, e-readers, and tablets is not recommended as the only source to access online courses.”
Ladies, I am going to change the status to allow other people outside of our team to post so that Danene will be able to if she wants to when she goes to the link. Otherwise, she will not be allowed to make any comments in the blog itself. What do you think? I don't think we should make her "join" our blog in order to access it. It is getting late, and I'm almost done for the night, so I'll make the change and if you prefer to leave it limited, it is simple to change back by going into the Design, settings, and posts and comments to change it back. Thanks
No problem, Karen. I've updated you to admin status so you can change anything you like.

We haven't determined individual responsibilities yet. I just started the blog since that is part of the requirement for this week.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like we are leaning toward small college. Are we considering a community college or a small university?
